The Fene shipyard completes the assembly of the first jacket for the Saint-Brieuc wind farm

Navantia has completed, at its Fene shipyard, the final assembly of the first jacket for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm, which Iberdrola is building in French Brittany. This construction milestone has occurred after the receipt of the first batch of components manufactured in the port of Brest. The components have been assembled to the main blocks manufactured in Fene by the UTE Navantia-Windar and its collaborating companies. This maneuver has been carried out with a 1,600 ton crawler crane, due to the dimensions and weight of these jackets, more than 74 meters and 1,100 tonnes. At the same time, 40 of the 62 jackets included in the contract with Iberdrola are already in different construction phases. In the coming months and until the delivery of the last units, scheduled for the third quarter of 2022, this program will generate peaks ...

Award for a work on a digital twin for offshore wind

The International Congress of Modeling and Simulation I3M has just awarded an article that bears the signature of three members of the UDC-Navantia Joint Research Unit (UMI): Adolfo Lamas Rodríguez, Javier Pernas Álvarez and Inés Taracido López. The three researchers have won the award for a work in which they propose a simulation model in which they use a 3D digital twin in order to optimize the manufacture of offshore structures for offshore wind power. SAs explained from the UDC, “this model is who to automatically obtain pseudo-optimal programming by applying the same language and criteria as a real project management team.” In addition, the academic institution indicates that «the digital twin of processes provides great fidelity since it incorporates 3D models of the shipyard and the platforms, which allows it to communicate the results with greater efficiency and agility ...
